This work illustrates the water crisis in Hawizeh Marshes, Iran. While the wetlands and marshes deliberately dried out in favor of oil industry development, nothing is left but sand and dry bushes, which considering the warm and dry weather of the region, causes wildfires. The dramatic environmental change put animals at high risk and not only destroyed water buffalo's natural habitat but also trapped them in the wildfire.
Each painting was made in response to news headlines of wildfires in Hawizeh Marshes in 2021 by using the elements of Iranian epics and symbolism to portray the contemporary issue.
